The Skills Gap
Skills development is the number one solution needed to eradicate the US skills gap.
The employment landscape is undergoing significant change. Rapid technological advancements are seeing more traditional industries (like manufacturing) contract. This changing economic landscape has meant that many people, particularly young Americans, do not possess the skills and knowledge required for in-demand careers.
As a result, our economy is suffering from a skills gap, with businesses struggling to find employees with the skills to match their needs.
Recent employment statistics reflect the urgency, and growing problem, of this skills gap. In August 2014, the US Department of Labor released data that showed that approximately 9.6 million Americans are currently out of work, while approximately 4.8 millions jobs were unfilled. These disproportionate statistics impact workers (who remain unemployed for long periods of time), and businesses, which are unable to find the employees that they need to grow their business.
That’s why reinventing American infrastructure and the mindset around job training is our mission.
All stakeholders in the US economy — from workers themselves, to companies and communities populated by high numbers of jobless youth — benefit from IWSI Consulting’s strategic initiatives.
