Skilling Australia Foundation (SAF) advocates for skills-based education and equitable access for all young people interested in skilled careers. The foundation is working with the Australian Government to deploy an innovative model of education-industry collaboration called P-TECH, across 14 sites. The program provides students an industry supported pathway to a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) career. The partnerships between schools and industry provide opportunities for students to engage with the world of work and better understand the relevance of their learning to jobs and post-school pathways. The model was created by IBM and The City University of New York. Worldwide there are 80 schools in the program.

The traineeships are 12-18 months in duration, with on-the-job training embedded into the program. Automotive Apprenticeships Australia is the automotive division of WPC Group and provides apprenticeships in heavy & light vehicle, spray painting, panel beating and motorsport. It has over 350 apprentices and works with companies like Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toll, BMW, and Porsche. The company works in partnership to train its apprentices ‘off-the-job’ at the Australian Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE). This is the largest and most advanced automotive training facility in the southern hemisphere.
